Ruce Records works with artists who explore the space between song, improvisation and sound art. On this page you can discover a selection of projects and the musicians behind them.
Northern Dunes – Inner Closed Up
Northern Dunes is a new electro‑pop duo formed by Cecilie Maria Pauline Giskemo and Bernt Isak Wærstad. On their debut EP Inner Closed Up, they combine catchy pop melodies with a collage‑like production approach, where synths, voices and percussion are layered into a vivid, detailed sound world. The EP features co‑producer Øyvind Sax Røsrud Gundersen, percussionist Erland Dahlen, and a group of guest musicians who add their own colours and textures to the music.

Rune Mandelid – Spaceship Earth
Rune Mandelid is a Norwegian composer, singer‑songwriter and guitarist whose music moves between rock, chamber music and experimental jazz. Released in May 2017, Spaceship Earth is a ten‑track album that gathers Mandelid’s experience as composer, guitarist, vocalist and engineer into one cohesive project. The record blends intricate string arrangements with electric and acoustic guitars, shifting from melancholic songs to more driving, rhythmically complex pieces.

Røyst Trio – The Quiet Beauty
Røyst Trio is a vocal ensemble that explores the possibilities of the human voice through jazz‑inspired music, Norwegian folk influences and global sounds. The Quiet Beauty (2018), written by Kari Bleivik, is released both as a song and as a short film. The music unfolds slowly, with layered voices and a calm, atmospheric sound that invites close listening, in dialogue with Simone Hooymans’ poetic animation.
